The night before

I'm such a dork. The only bag I have that I can fit overnight stuff into is my bag from Sacred Heart. Can you tell that a) I don't have cause to go away very often, b) I hold on to crap for far too long and c) I'm not the kind of girl who buys bags. Although, I think I need to change that and buy a bag or two or three. It couldn't hurt.
I went and bought another nightie this arvo at Best and Less. Fuck they have the greatest shit there. Big fan, big fan. I'm lurking around the house in it now. I'm not sure if neon hearts are really my scene, but it's cute and sleeveless, which makes for cool as a cucumber style comfort.
I was chuffed to spend some quality time with Lozzy this morning. Yay for hugs and ciggies and shootin the breeze! It's strange not seeing her every day like I have done for the past few years haha

Alright, well, I think that's all I have to say for tonight. I wanna try and get to bed early coz I have to be at Dandy by 7. The lady from the hospital called to confirm tonight and told me I'm second on the list of procedures and they take two at a time, so I should be first cab off the rank or thereabouts. I'm a little bit scared. Not heaps, but ya know, a little... anyways... I'll tweet from hospital haha so get in on the twitter action if you're not already.

A Day at the Dong

I spent the majority of today skulking around Dandenong Hospital, in their Pre-Admission clinic. 3 hours, as expected. It was mostly a lot of waiting around because they were short staffed, but we got everything done and out of the way and I'm good to go for Friday.
I must have been super anxious about today because I had the worst nights sleep last night. I woke up about 20 times. Even the cat cracked the shits eventually with my tossing and turning and decided the floor was a better option, where I wouldn't disturb her. This morning when I got up, I felt hideous. Overtired and nervously sick. It was alright once I got there though. Just feeling relieved that it's only a few days away now. Plus, I was informed that todays General Anesthetics are heaps better than they've been in the past and less likely to cause me to hurl my guts out after I wake up, which was something I was worrying about. Me and GA's don't normally mix very well.

Thanks to the awesome people that have taken the time to write or call and wish me luck for Friday. You guys are the greatest and your support has been hugely appreciated, not just this week, but for the last few months while I've been so miserable. You've been great to put up with my moaning and whinging, both here and IRL, so thank you for all being so awesomely considerate and sweet.

Bath, Bed and Beyond

If you check out my new Flickr pics, you'll see the Bathroom my dad renovated. The olds had one of the worst bathrooms you'd ever seen, (go, look at the pics, I'll wait), see what I mean? It is now officially an awesome bathroom, so I thought I'd show it off. The Old Man and the Mothership worked their arses off on the job, but it totally paid off. Doing it themselves made it a looooong, tedious and at times, insane project but they saved a stack of cash that they can now put towards the Kitchen reno, which is going to be a fairly big undertaking that will probably need Contractors.
So here's cheers to the efforts of the Parentals and their job well done!

I've been comfortable on a mattress on the floor, since I got here 2 weeks ago but I have to put my bloody bed together tomorrow night otherwise it's going to be a cunt to get up and down off the ground after my op on Friday. Boo. I actually really like a mattress on the floor. I know it's pretty dodgy, but it provides the perfect sitting space to perch at the PC. Once I no longer need the bed, it's outta here and back to living like a filthy hippy.

4 more sleeps til I go for my operation! Tomorrow morning I have my Pre-Admission clinic for 3 hours. I don't know what they're gonna do that takes 3 hours? How long can it take to explain the op, risks and weigh me for anesthetic? Not that I'm complaining, just have no idea why it takes 3 hours but whaddya gonna do eh? I'm starting to get just a liiiiiiiiiiiiiitle bit nervous, not about tomorrow but Friday.

Okay, gotta hit the sack so I'm awake for this thing in the morning. Must find phone and charge it so I have some sort of alarm!

Drugged up but still dirty

I’ve been in heaps of pain the last few days with my GB. Only 8 more days til it’s out. I’m literally counting down the sleeps, like a kid waiting for Santa. Doctor gave me Oxycontin and more Panadeine Forte. I’m feeling fluffy, but still the pain is pretty bad. I’m thinking if it’s still really bad in the morning, I might go to the Hospital tomorrow coz the Doc said that’s the best plan of attack. It has been a fairly miserable day coz I’ve felt so shithouse. Although, finding a Cunteloupe at the shops did provide me with some lulz.

It's not quite breakfast, it's not quite lunch...but it comes with a slice of Canteloupe at the end!

Unlucky for some

I’m going to hospital on Friday the 13th!! Less than 2 weeks away! Oh my god, biggest relief ever. Could be sooner, but at this point, it will be 13 days away. I’m not the kind to wish the days away, but I seriously can’t wait. Plus, Friday the 13th to me feels like a good sign… but I’m a strange one like that.

Just having a whinge, spin on

October 7th, 23:16

If you don’t want to read some bitching and moaning, this is your cue to go and look at Cute Overload or something.
I’m so fucking sick of being sick. I try not to complain too much about it coz I know a lot of pricks have it a lot harder than I do, but for the love of fuck, I’ve lost a third of my body weight. I’m in constant pain. It’s been hard. I’m tired all the bloody time. I’m sick of spending all my time in the toilet hurling. I’m sick of having to take spew bags every fucking where I go! It’s been like this for months and I’m just so over it. I’m tired of being told how I look ‘good’ when I feel like absolute shit inside. I’ve got bad skin, I look like I’ve been punched in the eyes but I look ‘better’ coz I’ve lost some weight. How does that work? And then I feel guilty for resenting peoples well intended compliments. I know they mean well, but something stings when they say it.
I’m even afraid to really say all this because a large majority of people associate weight loss with something positive. For me, it’s been incredibly negative. I didn’t set out to lose weight, it just came as a consequence of being so sick. So dealing with all the bullshit that comes with it is kind of unexpected. I’m also struggling with having a different body. I feel like it’s not even mine. I look in the mirror and it’s so different to what I’ve seen staring back at me for so long that it’s completely foreign. My boobs now resemble Tori Spellings monstrosity of a chest. They’re all lop sided and fucked. I’ve gone from being really confidant about my body to really self conscious.
Nothing I own fits me which makes me feel miserable coz I’m constantly pulling and tugging at clothes that are falling off me. Do you know how many times my pants have fallen down in public recently?? Should be hilarious, I know but yah…not so much. I just really fucking hate it. As a result of feeling so badly physically, I really feel like I’m hitting the limit as to what I can take emotionally. I miss the fuck out of Columbo. I have to move all my shit out of the house within 2 weeks, the thought of which is really overwhelming coz I just don’t have the energy. We’ve had non stop drama with the Landlord, all of which seems to fall on me to deal with it. I’ll be so relieved when we move out not to have to deal with it all. I feel like I’m about 30 seconds from crying all the bloody time. In fact, to be honest, writing all this shit down has made me feel really close to tears. It just feels like there’s too much going on. I just needed to get some of this stuff out coz I can’t keep it all bottled up inside anymore. And now, I’m going to go to bed to have a big fuckin cry and hopefully I’ll wake up feeling better in the morning, emotionally at least.

I’m gonna miss you Pointy

October 6th, 1:16

I wondered what the hell I’d gotten myself in for when I first picked up Columbo. She was a reject from a Breeder and she cried all the way home in the car. I thought it was just because she was in heat, but I soon found out she just happened to talk…all the time. So really, we couldn’t have been a better pair in that way. We bonded straight away. From that night on, it was Collie and I. Actually, for a few brief moments, it was Shelby and I, but I had a change of heart 24 hours in to owning her, coz she didn’t seem like a Shelby, and so Columbo it was, as an homage to Peter Falk’s fuck eyed Detective.

She wasn’t the kind of cat that everyone liked. She had a bitch streak a mile long. It was something I loved about her. She was ballsy. She liked handbags, shoes and butter on bread. She loved to play rough, but she lived to spoon at the end of the night. I miss our sleeping arrangement. We had it down pat. I miss so many things about her. So much so, that I hadn’t been able to write this entry sooner. I figured, maybe she’d come home ? But it’s not going to happen. It’s been 2 months since she’s been missing. My heart is broken. I am just so fucking sad. Yeah yeah, I know…I’m just confirming my position as a crazy cat lady here. But right now, I’m a really fuckin sad cat lady who has just lost the leader of her dark army of cats. Who will do my bidding now??? Bea doesn’t have the mean streak to lead a dark army.
Owning Collie was one of the most awesome things I ever got to do. A cat has never rocked so hard. I hope wherever she is, she’s still kickin it hardcore and giving other cats a hard time. Love you Pussy Gatto.

Pussy Gatto

It just feels like there’s too much going on. I just needed to get some of this stuff out coz I can’t keep it all bottled up inside anymore. And now, I’m going to go to bed to have a big fuckin cry and hopefully I’ll wake up feeling better in the morning, emotionally at least.

I’m gonna miss you Pointy

You’ve got to be joking?

Tonight, someone I knew ten years ago contacted me on Facebook. The sight of this persons name appearing in my Inbox made me freeze, and then I was overwhelmed by a horrible wave of…well, nausea to be honest. Which, for me, is nothing new, but this was different. When I saw his name, I instantly recalled one memory, obscurely, it was the way he smelt. Lynx Africa. Even walking past someone in a shopping centre who is wearing it can be enough to trigger some really sickening memories. His picture made my skin crawl. I can’t believe that fucker would have the audacity to contact me.

Serenity now.

Bloody Birds

Swooped by Magpie.

Not cool.

Magpie is so going down. Now I just need to bait a worm with poison and wait, lurking quietly in the bushes. Meh. Too much effort. But I did shake my fist at it really hard and try to swat it away with my handbag. It’s not quite the vengeance I was after, but I think it’s all I’m gonna get. Just to rub salt into the wound, Magpie is now sitting on the fence in front of me, only ten meters away. He must be a Mockingbird in his spare time.

Stupid Stomach

It’s been a long drawn out fucking week. Thankgod I missed the Gastro train that plowed through the house, but my Gastritis got really bad and by Thursday night I was vomiting nothing but blood. I went to Dandy Hospital, as instructed by my GP, and they were so good. I have to say, all this time I’d avoided Dandy Emergency like the plague, but they were so amazing. They had me a bed within ten minutes and before I even had my clothes off, the doctor was in there talking to me. It was the first time I’d ever had Morphine. Dude, it is the fucking worst. I turned it down the second time they went to give it to me. By 2am, the surgeon wouldn’t give me anything BUT morphine, so I made the nurse agree to pump me full of some stuff for the nausea if I took it. By 8am, I just wanted to go home. The hurling had stopped, they’d ran a heap of saline through me which had me feeling a million times better and the pain was only about a 4. I got the mothership to come and pick me up and went back to hers for some snooze on the couch. I basically slept most of the day and night, and woke up at 8 this morning. I feel heaps better. Yesterday is kind of a blur. I’m going to try and have some soup today and a bit of toast perhaps. Mmm, Velish Winter Vegetable!
Much love to the mothership and the housies for taking such good care of me.

Home, Kids, Friends, Olds and a Mower

Lucky I went to bed at a reasonable hour last night, because Barry the Mortgage Valuer was early. I hate having someone here poking around though! It’s strange and creepy! Don’t get me wrong, Barry was lovely, but I just hate someone poking through all my stuff. He was opening cupboards and drawers, nodding, taking notes and photos. I’ve got the added joy of my Landlord doing an inspection on Friday, and then she’s gonna be here all day in the garden she reckons. I’ve always got along well with my Landlord in the past, but the way she’s handled this whole situation of wanting her house back has been really crap. It’s bullshit. I understand that her circumstances have changed and we’ve tried to be accommodating of that, but she cuts us no slack in return. It’s like she feels she doesn’t have to honor her end of the lease, but we have to honor ours. And then there’s the emails. Ugh. They’re really intimidating. The fun of dealing with a private rental, I guess!

I spent time in the backyard this afternoon playing bat tennis with Timmy’s little boy. He’s about to turn 3. It’s like he’s growing out of that terrible two’s stage and has become a real little person. He’s started to call me Pruey in the last week. He must have heard the others call me it. It’s very cute! I always just thought he was tolerating me, but I think the kid might actually have fun with me, perhaps even like me! We hung out and drew dinosaurs and pictures of each other (don’t you love how all kids draw just a circle for a body/head combo and some sticks coming off the side for limbs? It’s universal!) It’s his birthday this week, so I’ll make a cake for the weekend, maybe with Thomas the Tank Engine on it. Oh fuck, that sounds like a CakeWreck waiting to happen. Perhaps I’ll just pick up a Mudcake at IGA and put a sparkler on it. Kids love sparklers. Plus, fat kids love cake so everyone’s a winner.

I hung out with Other Tim Friday night. I was gonna go to my olds for Turkey but we pushed it to this weekend, coz the old man hasn’t finished the bathroom renos and he didn’t wanna break stride. So we kicked it here and watched an arseload of Simpsons and I finally got a chance to watch the 7up episode I’d wanted to see for ages. I love it when they flash back to young Homer and the crew. Basically, any Simpsons episode where they reminisce about coming of age with snippets of them as youngsters is a fave of mine. “It says NO HOMERS, we can have one!”

Speaking of the renos, so far…. my folks neighbour got trapped under the house and freaked out and they had to cut him out of the floor which set back the progress substantially, the cat got under the house and freaked out…no cutting out was required, dad hammered straight into a pipe, which sent water flowing everywhere, mum sliced open her hand… it’s basically gone exactly as anticipated. Well, I’ll admit, I didn’t predict the neighbour getting trapped under the house and losing his shit…that caught me off guard! But my family know well enough to anticipate that if something can go wrong, it will. It happens everywhere we go, and with everything we’ve done for the last 27 years. Our surname should have been Murphy. We don’t even get annoyed about it anymore, we just laugh about it coz shit always fucks up so predictably.
I will be excited, however, when the bathroom is finished. It means when I return to Casa di Parentals, there will be 2, count’em, two, toilets. And a shower with actual water pressure! The folks had gravity fed hot water until about 2 months ago, and I swear, it was like pensioner with a bung prostate pissing on ya. I don’t know how my mum put up with it for so long! She’s so excited to have a new bathroom! And just in time for my outer south eastern sabbatical too! How convenient!

Fuck, okay, it’s late and I wanna get up tomorrow and pull some more weeds in the garden. It was so nice getting out in the sun today and doing some gardening, I have the bug now. I even had the thought “Hrmm perhaps I should ask Santa for a mower!” What the fuck? When did I start wanting lawn tools for gifts?! Mower, pfft. I’m officially a grown up. Argh! I’m headed to check the closet for monsters and then I’m hittin up Snoozeville.

Just catchin up

The warmer days have made me feel so much better. The cold weather had me feeling miserable and tired, but the sunshiney goodness of late has given me a much needed injection of Vitamin D. In addition to that, I’ve actually been able to hold down food for the last few days, which has made the world of difference to how I’ve been feeling, even just emotionally. Running on nothing makes you miserable as hell and touchy as fuck. Unfortunately, Gallbladder says no. God, it feels like I’ve been harping on about this douchebag gallbladder of mine for ages. If you reckon you’re over it, times it by a million, and that’s me. Hopefully they’ll put me as Catergory 1 for elective surgery, which will get me into hospital and have it out in the next 30 days, which would be a freakin godsend. Fingers crossed, coz I have really bad back pain and pain under the ribs, which makes me worry that I’m gonna have a GB attack soon. Rather than eat nothing like I normally do, I’m gonna try the “living off liquids” thing, which should keep the GB happy and behold, I may even have some energy!

I went on a bit of a cleaning binge yesterday. The pain in my back made it difficult to sit last night, so I found myself cleaning the freakin lint off the walls in the laundry at 3am. I also managed an unprecedented 3 loads of washing and drying (I fucking HATE washing! I hang on to so many clothes, not coz I like them, but because it creates more outfits to wear til I have to do washing lol) Before I leave here, I’m going to get rid of heaps of clothes. I don’t even think the Salvos would take em!

Anyways, my fucking stomach is killin me. I’m goin to have a shower.

too tired

What a miserable day. I wish I was sitting in a spa, right this very minute. That’d be awesome. It’s so cold and windy and rainy. I can’t get warm enough. I think a hot shower will have to cut it. I may even consider a bath, which is almost unheard of.

Contrary to my expectations, my Landlord has given us 60 days in which to move. It’s still a cunt, but what can I do. I’m going to go over all my options on Thursday and figure out what the plan will be. It’s a really scary time for me coz I’m having to think about some options I haven’t had to consider before and that unnerves me.

I managed to keep down some Pumpkin soup! Huzzah

Make it better, oui?

Life can be a royal pain in the cunt. I got an email from my Landlord today telling me we need to be out of the house. She’s sending a notice to vacate. I don’t know how long we’re going to have, but the 5th of Sept would, apparently, be ideal for her. Umm, that’s in 14 fucking days. Are you for real? I have no idea what we’re going to do. But as you can imagine, I’m in a bit of a tizz about it.

My Gallbladder is useless. Absolutely rooted. I’ve eaten like 4 bits of toast, half a bread roll and some pasta salad in the last week. I’m actually kind of hungry at the moment for the first time in days, but I’ve gotta be really careful about what I eat when I feel like this. I’ll err on the side of caution and break out another piece of toast and see how it goes. Actually, I got a glass of water instead. I don’t want to be up all night in agony so yah…water it is. Filling and no horrible side effects! You know it’s bad when I’m into the water and not the Coke.

Why do they call it the black dog?

I feel like a sack of crap. I just hurled for the last hour. I seriously need into invest in some sort of knee pads all the time I spend praying to the porcelain gods. If I didn’t feel so shitful, I’d make a joke about knee pads and blow jobs there, but I just don’t have the energy to muster something witty right now.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m feeling sick, but I’m feeling kinda beige and have done for the past few days. Depression is a strange phenom in that way. It just comes and goes as it pleases, much like a cat really. You can never really own it. You can do what you can to control it and sometimes it obeys and sometimes it doesn’t. Only it’s not soft or furry like a cat and it never curls up in your lap.

I need a whopping dose of Vitamin H. That’s hugs, not heroin just in case it sounded suss.

Oooh Magnetic Jebus

I was trying to show you my new version of the Jesus bracelet but it looks more like I'm threatening to fist you. I didn't mean for that to happen, but hey...I'll be gentle and I'll use lube

Thanks to Meg for the new bracelet! I love it! Plus, it’s one of those magnetic type ones, and it leaves my arm feeling all strange and tingly. It feels like I have the magic of Jebus working through my wrist.

I hung out with a girlfriend on Saturday night and watched 90210. I forgot how cute Jason Priestly was. She also brought me some super awesome hair clips that I adore! One matches my fave dress perfectly! Huzzah! Later in the arvo, Other Tim rocked up, which was unexpected to say the least…I was still in PJ’s and my hair looked insane. I’m glad he popped in though, even if I did look like the Crazy Cat Lady of Springfield.

Did I mention Americans have the greatest medications of all time? Man, everything has some sort of anesthetic in it, it’s awesome. Americans totally know how to do pain relief!

Garage is finished and will be fitted out to our liking by tomorrow afternoon, which is excellent. Everything that didn’t get broken in the Great Garage Debacle of 09, has been living under our pergola for the last week and a half while it was being repaired, which has sucked coz the vista from the kitchen has been an arseload of cardboard boxes, a huge stuffed giraffe and an assortment of random shit that we’ve acquired over the years. Not that it was ever an awesomely stellar view from the kitchen, but geez, even the brick wall is better than the sea of crap sitting there now. I’ll be so relieved when it’s all done

Anyway, I’m off to snort some salt water up my nose. I swear, it’s for my Sinus infection lol.

Just cruisin

Nearly a week later and my finger still hurts from what is possibly my first, and only, sporting injury. And my sinuses are killing me. I’d give my sinuses the finger, but I can’t Can you dig my dilemma?

Note to self: Collect anatomy drawing books from olds house. Mum do you know where those Medical books at home went?

Note to others: Caramel Crowns on special at IGA. Be there.

The Prodigal Meezer

I found Columbo, btw. She’s been making herself at home in the backyards of my neighbours. She is none too happy to be home, as opposed to out roaming the streets, tarting it up. She is now securely trapped in my bedroom, this now being day 2 of lock down. She lost her collar while she was on her magical mystery tour, so I have to go first thing in the morning and get a new one and call the council to organise new tags. She’ll be under house arrest for a few more days, because some guys fixing the garage and I don’t want her getting scared again and running off.

Meezer luv.

Family Ties

Originally published at www.pruesaysit.com. Please leave any comments there.

It might seem odd to say that the day I spent at the Funeral was really enjoyable, but it’s true. My family are strange, we do a good funeral. There’s a lot of us (extended family), there’s generally a lot of booze at our wakes (Irish Catholics) and a lot of standing huddled around smoking cigarettes outside of the Church (Odd we haven’t had more Lung Cancer deaths). We snigger when the organist is out of key (She was…and badly). We sigh at having to kneel (The Priest was new and took ages coz he wasn’t sure what he was doing). And afterwards, we eat a veritable fuck tonne of food (aunt so and so’s famous recipe for whatever) and talk a lot of shit (Did you see so and so? God, time has not been kind to them. Who’s that bloke over there? Is he one of our mob?).

I met and have since forgotten the names of plenty of family members I’m sure I won’t see until someone else dies. But everyone was so lovely. I thought I’d feel awkward, given my limited exposure to my relatives, but I felt really at home. How strange is it when you can look at someone you’ve never met, but know instantly that you’re related coz you share a similar feature? Or just because you sense a kinship with that person? That is some wierd shit right there. It kind of sparked a desire in me to want to get to know my extended family better, which works out well coz I’m starting by having lunch with my Aunt and her two kids on Sunday. I haven’t seen her since her kids were little, now they’re 12 and 14, so it’ll be like meeting them for the first time really. I’m really looking forward to getting to know them. Obviously if they’re related to me, they’re bound to be superstars.

Best part of the day was getting to spend a day with the Mothership just hanging out. Mawsy is awesome.

Originally published at www.pruesaysit.com. Please leave any comments there.

So far, the story is I have a hiatus hernia, gastritis, reflux oesophegitis and a bung gallbladder, but I need another ultrasound to figure out what’s going on there. That’s the doctors report from the Gastroscopy today.
Dude, I can’t believe how easy the Gastroscopy was. I’d kinda worked myself up about it, coz I hate the way anesthesia makes me feel, but it was easy and the doctor was really lovely, so was the Nurse. All I remember was being on the table with the oxygen thing in my mouth, complimenting the guy on how well he put in my IV coz it didn’t hurt at all, and then he said “You’re going to start to feel a bit sleepy” And I was like Hrmmm… I do feel kind of sle………………………….. that was it. Then I woke up and it was all done. I think I woke myself up because of all the farting I was doing. Man, I hate any sort of proceedure where they fill you with gas! I couldn’t stop laughing. Granted, that was probably the Valium. Mum was in the waiting area to take me home, and she said she knew I was awake coz she could hear me talking all the way down the hall. I must have been babbling shit. I don’t remember much of it thankfully haha.

Anyways, so I guess now they’ll figure out what’s going on with my GB (look at me, shortening the term like we’re tight, me and my Gallbladder!) and work out whether they’ll take it out. Regardless of what happens, I’m going to have to change my diet. Dude do you know how many things they tell you not to eat when you have gastritis? Tomatoes, spinach, chocolate, peppermint, coffee, soft drinks (!!!!), OJ, hot food, spicey food, anything with flavour it would appear. Jesus, I may as well just start some sort of liquid food regime, highlighted with hints of bland.

Anyways, I was going to go and bake with my old lady today, but I was kinda tired and a bit spacey after the Gastro so I went home and just had a kip. Need to get a reasonably early night tonight coz I have to roadtrip to a funeral tomorrow. Catch.
