This Is Where It Happens
[info]art_lurker wrote in [info]saucydwellings
Alright ladies and gentleman. I'm not sure if this is saucy, but this room is just not going to ever get any better than this. And, this is the last chance to document this space, because after seven years it's finally time to move on. I start packing next week, we're moving.
This has been the space and place where I have been figuring it out, making it work, developing a style, and finally, creating a successful art business and supporting myself. The room and I have grown around and into each other over the past 7 years, everything is in constant motion. The walls are perforated with a thousand push-pins. I never replaced that horrid pink carpeting, I never took down the wallpaper border that I hate more than anything - of course now that we have tenants moving in soon, we're replacing everything. Go fig. But for today, it's still my room and I'd like to invite you in for a beer.

I went out again with the law student. Drinks and DVDs. We're supposed to get together tomorrow or Monday.

Today I met the future librarian for coffee. He's no longer an option. Basically, he's really codependent, thinks I'm wonderful, can see himself falling hard for me, and says there's no way he could be with me in a healthy way right now. Oh well. Lesson I take from this: I'm just too damn awesome!

A dancer from the strip club Abby and I went to sent me a message on flickr because she recognized me! Ha! Too funny.

I contacted a few organizations about wanting to volunteer with them. Hopefully I hear back.

I'm ridiculously tired. Being back on my meds is kicking my ass. Naps galore!

I think I'm going to start looking into some support groups.

The tale of the chronic sexaholic
[info]athena1999 wrote in [info]housematehorror
I live in an apartment with two other girls. One of them is a normal person with whom I am good friends, but the other... well, she's not as bad as many of the people that have been described on this comm, but still deserves some venting about over here. (Content under the cut is possibly NSFW; proceed at your own risk)

Sex noises, squalor, and screaming, oh my! )

Printing
[info]globox wrote in [info]melbournemaniac
Hi melbz,
I would like to get a small printing job done today, city or st kilda-ry area. The places in walking distance on st-k road are closed today, I guess some place open early tomorrow would work also but getting it done today would bring peace of mind. Good quality and native forest free paper would be neat also.

Another one of those dishes rants...and then some

Dishes seem to be a point of contention fairly often with roommates. My roommate and I are no different...

So let me talk about the dishes, and the kitchen, and things about food that might make your stomach unhappy... )

For the tl;dr...folks: My roommate Cooky is a culinary arts student that hates dishes, many other manners of cleaning, and does some surprisingly unsanitary things with food.

Birth Centers
[info]krysta_ttc wrote in [info]naturalbirth
I am not pregnant and don't plan to be for probably at least another year, but I've been heavily researching natural birth for a good 6 months now in preparation for the future. My heart leans towards wanting to have a home birth when the time comes, but my husband is having a difficult time with the idea. He says he would feel worlds better about having our first baby in a birth center, which is something that I would be completely okay with as well. The problem with this, though, is that we live in West Michigan, which means we are surrounded by hospitals, with no non-hospital birth centers anywhere close by. Google only turns up two birth centers in all of Michigan - one is almost 3 hours away from my home, and the other is about an hour and a half away from my home.
Now, obviously, since I've never been pregnant or given birth, I don't know this for sure, but I am assuming that it is totally unrealistic to think that we would drive at least an hour and a half to a birth center to give birth after I have started labor. Is this a correct assumption? Is a birth center birth out of the question for me (at least, as long as we are living in our current home) given how far away the birth centers are?
I guess on the bright side, we *are* planning to move to the Tempe/Phoenix Arizona area in the next 3 years or so, and from what I understand there is at least one birth center in that area... it would push our TTC plans back by about 2 years, but it might be worth it, right?
I guess I am just looking for advice/ideas about all of this. I would especially love to hear from anyone out there who is from the West Michigan area, as well as people in the Tempe/Phoenix Arizona area... but any advice/ideas are welcome and very much appreciated!

A few questions
[info]uggghhhh wrote in [info]fatshionista
Does anyone have experience with this coat from Old Navy? Does it fit true to size?

And this is probably a long shot, but does anyone have these boots (or any Durango boots, really) and know how the calf sizes are? Mine's about a 15-16" and I'd like to make sure those fit before I buy them.

Thanks all!

I turned to this community because y'all seem to have a lot of experience with curlers and I need help.

I have thick almost waist-length hair. It's permed but barely curly anymore, due to the fact that the perm was 9 months ago. My mother seems to think chunking product in it will make it curly again, but as I say, no amount of sauce is going to turn spaghetti into fusilli. Product enhances what curl you do have, and if you don't have any...well, it ain't gonna do much. Maybe for your hair but not mine.

Anyway, until I can afford to perm it again, I'm rockin' the sponge rollers.

What I'm looking for are sleeping tips. How do you ladies sleep with these things in?

Also, how many rollers do you generally put in? I'm using the Goody brand small rollers, the yellow ones that come in a 12 pack (I also have the green that come in a 10 pack and the big pink ones that come in an 8 pack), so I have 24 curlers in.

TGIF?

I live with three other roomates in a fairly large house. Things are mostly fine, but the one roomate has a very severe alcohol problem. He's drunk all the time, but keeps to himself and doesn't bother people usually.

I came home today to find the bathroom sink clogged with a mixture of puke, and the draino he'd obviously tried to use to unclog it. It's still there, my roomate is clearly home in his room, and it's been hours. I'm likely going to have to take care of it. Ugh.
